How Much Does a Bathroom Renovation Cost in Mallorca?

Ask three companies to price the same bathroom and the figures will differ. Ask what each one priced and the differences usually explain themselves: one priced the tiles, the suite and the labour; one added the waterproofing, the fall to the drain and a new substrate; one had looked at the floor, found there was no depth for a fall, and priced a raised floor. All three are honest. Only one has priced the room you have. The cost of a bathroom on Mallorca is not a number; it is a set of decisions, and this is the order they are made in.

The work under the finish

A bathroom is the one room built to get wet on purpose, and what keeps it dry is a layer nobody sees again: the membrane under the tiles, the fall formed towards the drain, the substrate the whole thing sits on, the detailing at every corner and threshold. That work is where a quote earns its money and where two quotes most often differ, because one has included it by name and the other has either included it silently or not at all. Keep the layout, and save the most

Keeping the toilet, the drain and the water supply where they are avoids the plumbing and the floor work that moving them needs, and in an older property that is the part with the surprises in it – a stone wall between the pipe and where it needs to go, a waste with no fall, a floor with no depth. Changing the layout is right when the room does not work; ask for it priced both ways, and the difference is real information.

Standard bathroom, or wet room

A bathroom with a tray and an enclosure keeps most of its floor dry, and the waterproofing covers the shower. A wet room is a bathroom whose whole floor is the shower, waterproofed from wall to wall and falling to a drain, and that is more work at the stage that matters most. The surfaces, the furniture and the fixtures

The visible half. Standard tiles, large-format porcelain, natural stone, marble and microcement sit at different points and ask different things of the wall behind them, which is itself a cost. Furniture runs from a vanity from a range to one made for the room. Sanitaryware and taps run from standard to high-end, and a concealed cistern needs a frame in the wall. Each is a decision, and each is on its own page, because a quote that says “tiles” has not been specified and one that says which tiles has.
