Marble Bathrooms in Mallorca

Marble is the luxury surface, and it has been for as long as there have been bathrooms to put it in: veining nobody can repeat, a depth in the polished face that no tile has, and a way of catching Mediterranean light that makes a room glow. It is also a natural stone with a temperament, and a marble bathroom done well is a job for a company that cuts, books and seals it for a living. Describe the room and we pass the request to bathroom renovation companies that work in it.

A marble bathroom, or a bathroom with marble in it

The difference is the cut. A marble bathroom is planned from the block: slabs chosen together so the veining runs across the wall and meets its mirror image at the corner – book-matched – the floor cut from the same material, the vanity top and sometimes the basin from the same block, and the shower floor in the same marble cut small enough to form the fall. It is a stone job with a bathroom around it, and it is priced that way.

A bathroom with marble in it is a different and perfectly good thing: a marble vanity top on a wooden vanity, a marble floor with porcelain walls, a marble niche in a microcement shower. The stone is used where it is seen and touched, and something more forgiving does the work where the water is. Many marble bathrooms are this, and the honest brief says which one it wants.

The elements, surface by surface

  • Floors: honed rather than polished where feet are wet; cut small in the shower for the fall
  • Walls: slabs book-matched at the corners, laid on a wall built to carry them
  • Shower: the same marble on the floor and walls, a linear drain, a frameless screen; or marble walls and a more forgiving floor
  • Vanity: a marble top, an undermounted or carved basin, on wood, lacquer or a marble plinth
  • Sanitaryware: white and simple, so the stone is the room
  • Fixtures: brushed brass with warm marbles, chrome or black with grey and white ones
  • Colours: the marble decides – white with grey veining, a warm cream, a deep green or black used on one surface
  • Lighting: designed for the stone – across the veining, not flat onto it
  • Practical: sealed before use and again over time; acid cleaners and dropped bottles are its enemies; ask the stone company for its care sheet

Care, honestly

Marble is porous and softer than porcelain, and it shows use: a scratch, a dull patch where something acidic sat, a darkening where water always runs. Some owners find that part of its beauty; some find it a chore. It is sealed before the bathroom is used and resealed on a schedule the stone company sets, and it is cleaned with what the stone company says and nothing else. None of that is difficult, but all of it has to happen.

The honest conversation to have before choosing it is with the stone company, about the particular marble, its finish and the room: a honed white marble floor in a guest bathroom and a polished black marble shower in a family bathroom are different commitments.

How your request reaches a company

Mallorca Bathrooms is a comparison service. A request for a marble bathroom goes to the bathroom renovation companies on our list; they quote the work and carry it out, and any agreement is between you and the company you pick.

  1. 01

    Describe the job

Tell us the property, roughly what you want and where it is. Photographs and a rough plan help, though neither is required.

  2. 02

    We match it

The request goes to companies that work in your area and take on this kind of job at this size.

  3. 03

    They quote you

Each company contacts you directly with its own price, timing and approach. We do not set any of it.

  4. 04

    You compare and choose

Put the quotes side by side and take the one you want, or none of them. Using the site costs you nothing.

Is marble practical in a shower?

With the right marble, the right finish and the right care, yes – and with the waterproofing under it like any other finish. A honed surface grips better than a polished one underfoot, and the stone company will say which marbles suit a floor that is wet every day.

Marble or marble-look porcelain?

Porcelain that imitates marble is honest about what it is: the look without the care, in a repeating pattern that a sharp eye sees. Real marble is the thing itself. Many bathrooms here use both – real marble on the vanity and one wall, porcelain where the water is – and a quote for each is real information.

What does book-matched mean?

Two slabs cut from the same block and opened like a book, so the veining on one wall mirrors the other and meets at the corner. It is the detail that makes a marble bathroom read as designed, and it is decided at the stone yard, not on site.
