Renovating Several Bathrooms in Mallorca

A villa with three or four bathrooms of the same age, a finca bought with one bathroom too few and two too old, a house being refurbished from end to end. Renovating the bathrooms together is a different project from renovating one: one design carried through, one set of trades on site for one stretch, one delivery by sea instead of four. Describe the property and how many bathrooms it has, and we pass the request to bathroom renovation companies that price it as one.

A stone hallway with terrazzo floor opens onto two bathrooms, each with a round basin and a wood vanity.

Why together is different

Done one at a time, by whoever was available each year, the bathrooms in a house end up sharing a roof and nothing else: four palettes, four kinds of glass, four ways of detailing a shower floor. Done together they are designed as a set – the same stone or the same family of tiles, the same taps in the same finish, one approach to the wet area – and the house reads as one decision. The guest bathroom does not have to match the master suite, but it should look like it belongs to the same house.

The work changes too. The strip-out happens once. The plumber and the tiler are on site for one stretch rather than four visits a year apart. The stone, the glass and the sanitaryware come to the island in one delivery. And the house is a building site for one period, planned around when the property is empty, rather than a different room being out of use every spring.

What a multi-bathroom request should say

The count is the first thing the companies want, and the second is which bathrooms are which.

  • How many bathrooms, and which are en-suites, family bathrooms, guest bathrooms
  • Which are to be renovated fully and which only refreshed
  • Whether the layouts stay or change, room by room
  • One design across all of them, or a hierarchy – the master suite at a higher level
  • The surfaces and fixtures you have in mind, if any
  • When the property is empty, and for how long
  • Whether the bathrooms are part of a larger refurbishment with its own contractor
  • Photographs of each room, and a plan of the house

Three shapes of the same project

The villa

Three to five bathrooms, one or two of them en-suites, renovated together while the family is away.

The finca just bought

One old bathroom, two new en-suites, and a plumbing plan for a house that was never designed for either.

The hotel corridor

The same bathroom repeated twenty times, between one season and the next. A different page, and a different kind of company.

How your request reaches a company

Mallorca Bathrooms is a comparison service. A request for several bathrooms renovated together goes to the bathroom renovation companies on our list; they quote the work and carry it out, and any agreement is between you and the company you pick.

  1. 01

    Describe the job

Tell us the property, roughly what you want and where it is. Photographs and a rough plan help, though neither is required.

  2. 02

    We match it

The request goes to companies that work in your area and take on this kind of job at this size.

  3. 03

    They quote you

Each company contacts you directly with its own price, timing and approach. We do not set any of it.

  4. 04

    You compare and choose

Put the quotes side by side and take the one you want, or none of them. Using the site costs you nothing.

Is it cheaper per bathroom to do them together?

The companies will tell you for your house; what they will usually say is that some things are shared – the site set-up, the delivery, the trades being there once – and some are not – each room still has its own strip-out, waterproofing and finish. Ask for the project priced as one and each bathroom priced separately, so the difference is visible.

Do all the bathrooms have to be the same?

No, and they are usually better when they are not: one family of materials, with the master suite at a higher level and the guest bathrooms simpler. What they should share is the approach to the work – the same waterproofing, the same quality of tiling – because that is what lasts.

How long is the house a building site?

Longer than one bathroom and much shorter than four done separately. It depends on how many rooms and how much each changes; the companies plan it as a sequence so that one bathroom is usable for most of the work. Second-home owners usually time it for a period when nobody is there.
